According to Republican members of New York’s state Senate, two appointees to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s committee to study reparations and racial justice should resign.
As BizPac Review reported, both Dr. Ron Daniels and Lurie Daniel Favors have a history of making racist, anti-white statements on social media. Both were appointed to the committee by Democrat New York Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
“White Folks Messed Up the Weather = Black Folks Save the Planet,” Daniels, a longtime activist wrote on Twitter, since renamed X, in October 2021.

Also in 2021, Daniels called Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a black conservative who is among the names being mentioned as a possible running mate for presumptive GOP nominee Donald J. Trump, “Uncle Tim.”
“Uncle Tim,’ Scott that is, Who Picked Cotton On the Plantation, Is ‘Still On the Plantation’ = Picked to Be the ‘Black Face’ To Suppress/Black Power/Black Freedom On Behalf of White Supremacy/White Power and That’s ‘The Cotton Picking Truth’ #BewareofUncleTim,” he tweeted in May of that year.
More recently, Dr. Daniels expressed his solidarity with the Palestinians — aka Hamas terrorists — in the conflict with Israel
Meanwhile, Favors, the Executive Director at the Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College, was denigrating the police and ranting about “white nationalism.”
“In the name of our ancestors who weep over our fractured communities; in the name of our families whose genealogy is at best a guess and a prayer; in the name of all that is holy & just: F**K YOU & YOUR RACE APOLOGETICS. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. WE WILL NOT MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE,” she wrote in a July 2019 post to the then-Twitter.
“We have given everything -EVREDAMNTHANG – to make you comfortable about how evilly twisted your white supremacist sickness is and WE ARE DONE with that as a political/education/housing policy,” she fumed. “DONE.”

State Senate Minority Leader Robert Orr and some of his Republican colleagues issued a joint statement on Wednesday calling for their resignation, the New York Post reports.
“The deeply offensive views of these members should completely disqualify them from serving in any government-appointed position, especially one supposedly intended to unify our state,” the statement read. “The abhorrent bias of these commission members will no doubt cloud their decision-making and taint their recommendations.”
“When announcing the members of the newly created reparations commission,” the GOP members continued, “Governor [Kathy] Hochul referred to the appointees as an ‘extraordinary group of highly-qualified individuals.’ The announcement failed to acknowledge the disturbing antisemitic and anti-police rhetoric espoused by commission members Ron Daniels and Lurie Danie Favors.”
“Regardless of any opinion on the necessity of this commission,” they stated, “there should be no doubt these members have no business continuing to serve.
“We strongly urge Governor Hochul and the Senate and Assembly Majorities to demand their resignations immediately.”
