Pulling the strings: Obama telling White House what he would do as Biden doubts grow

As President Biden appears to get more unpopular, weaker, and frail by the day, former President Obama is stepping in to give the White House advice on what should be done to save the country from former President Trump.

Poll after poll is now showing Trump clobbering Biden in the upcoming presidential election and Obama is beginning to panic over it. Suddenly, he is riding to the rescue. The New York Times is coming right and saying it these days.

“As the election approaches, President Biden is making regular calls to former President Barack Obama to catch up on the race or to talk about family. But Mr. Obama is making calls of his own to Jeffrey D. Zients, the White House chief of staff, and to top aides at the Biden campaign to strategize and relay advice,” the New York Times reported.

“This level of engagement illustrates Mr. Obama’s support for Mr. Biden, but also what one of his senior aides characterized as Mr. Obama’s grave concern that Mr. Biden could lose to former President Donald J. Trump. The aide, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said that Mr. Obama has ‘always’ been worried about a Biden loss. And so, the aide added, he is prepared to ‘eke it out’ alongside his former vice president in an election that could come down to slim margins in a handful of states,” the media outlet added.

The Old Gray Lady cited an anonymous senior Biden aide concerning Obama’s intensified involvement with the White House.

The former president has been a busy little politico, calling a number of Biden’s top aides according to the New York Times. He’s desperately trying to stop Trump from re-taking the White House and his plotting is picking up pace.

“Obama has made clear to associates in recent months that he believes Biden’s intensifying re-match with Donald Trump in November will be incredibly close, and that the 2024 election marks an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ moment, people familiar with his thinking told CNN. To that end, his return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue last week was largely a working visit,” CNN reported.

“The two participated jointly in a campaign call alongside former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) last weekend to celebrate the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ‘Obamacare.’ Biden and Obama will also take the stage in a fundraising event with former President Bill Clinton in New York City on Thursday, bringing together three of the four living Democratic presidents,” the Washington Examiner reported concerning the star-studded Manhattan fundraiser moderated by comedian Stephen Colbert.

“Attending the sold-out, high-dollar event Thursday night will be numerous celebrities and artists like Queen Latifah, Lizzo, Cynthia Erivo, Mindy Kaling, Ben Platt and Lea Michele, according to the campaign. The evening will be overseen by high-profile producers Jordan Roth and Alex Timbers, and tickets will range from $225 to $500,000,” CNN wrote.

Obama has never seemed to be a big fan of Biden and has warned the president that Trump could sweep battleground states in the November election.

“Obama reportedly talked Biden out of running in 2016, allowing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee. The former president also did not endorse Biden in 2020 until after the primaries despite them running on the same ticket in 2008 and 2012,” the Washington Examiner noted.

Trump is leading in nearly every swing state now according to national polls. That fact alone has Biden inserting himself into the mix and taking control of the narrative. Whether Biden can make it through election day remains to be seen but Obama will be there pulling the strings, holding the president up as long as he can in what increasingly mimics “Weekend at Bernie’s.”
